Description

“There have long been questions about who belongs in the Mission — and to whom, exactly, the Mission belongs.”

“A Changing Mission” is an investigative project that delves into one block of San Francisco’s Mission District and the myriad changes it has gone through as it continues to evolve. A team of reporters and photographers spent eight months interviewing residents and small-business owners for the project, talking to people who have lived in the neighborhood for decades and newcomers who only recently started calling the Mission their home. From these efforts came “A Changing Mission,” a compilation of stories told through words, photos, graphics and film that seeks an answer to the question: “To whom does San Francisco’s oldest neighborhood belong?”

Business reporter Joe Garofoli was an integral part of creating “A Changing Mission,” and he will help the project come alive at a community discussion with a varied panel about gentrification in the neighborhood. Also, we encourage you to check out The Chronicle project HERE.
